NoviPet Calming Aid for Dogs

We have three dogs. One is a lazy long-haired chihuahua that can’t even be bothered to get up to bark most days, so she was out of the mix for this one. I figured if it DID calm dogs, it would make her catatonic.

However, my other long-haired chihuahua is extremely anxious. He was a rescue and is just jittery in general. Our terrier/wiener dog mix is extremely high energy. We’ve been trying these for a couple of weeks now with both of these dogs, giving them half of one each.

I really didn’t like them. They smell pretty icky. They also leave a residue on your fingers if you touch them, and if you’re trying to cut them in half, really you have to touch them. If you DO get it on your hands, it’s feels greasy and even after washing them several times, that smell doesn’t seem to want to go away. For those reasons alone, I would probably not buy them again.

BUT… they didn’t really do anything. My anxious chihuahua, even after having taken these for two weeks, is right now outside anxiously barking at air and the high energy dog is running around throwing toys at him.

So, yeah… don’t waste your money. Instead, we’ll do as our vet has suggested – on days when we need them calmer (such as when there are fireworks, we’ll just do the half tablet of Benedryl and call it good.

Not recommended. For us, they do anything at all.
