D-Link Wireless AC 750 Mbps Home Cloud App-Enabled Dual-Band Broadband Router (DIR-810L)

My family has a wide range of wired and wireless devices. We have had a lot of problems in the past with wireless connectivity on the devices furthest from our router. We decided to give the AC 750 a try to see if it would help us out.

First off, the good: The AC 750 is located at one end of our house, the living room at the other. The best connection we have had in the past has always been “weak”. With the AC 750 we have had a medium to strong signal continuously. My son is really excited that he can now be competitive in his online console games and not worry about getting disconnected.

Second, the bad: for the last 5 years (at least) every computer we have purchased has had a gigabit Ethernet adapter. All of our routers have had gigabit ports. Until this one. “Fast Ethernet” is now a misnomer. Please take into account that “Fast Ethernet” is the industry term for 100 mbit speeds. If you move a lot of traffic across your wired network, you are really going to miss your gigabit speeds if you use this router for your wired network.

Lastly: The admin interface is pretty generic. You won’t find any “gotchas” but you also won’t find any nice hidden surprises.

Overall, this is a pretty standard D-Link offering in the router market. It definitely delivers on the wireless range promise, but nothing else makes it stand out from the crowd.

Upgrade to AC Performance: Today’s households are connecting more devices than ever before – with more and more iPhones, Androids, tablets, and laptops laying around in any given home, it’s important that each device gets the speed and coverage it deserves. By upgrading your current network to wireless AC, you can immediately enjoy the benefits of faster wireless speeds, increased home coverage – all with less wireless interference so you can enjoy doing what you love most. Delivering Wi-Fi dual band speeds of up to 750Mbps, the DIR-810L is the perfect solution for those looking to enjoy HD video streaming, fast file transfers, and lag-free video chatting. Backward Compatibility: While the DIR-810L delivers AC performance to your home network, it is also backward compatible with all of your existing wireless devices. This means you can enjoy all the benefits of wireless AC without worrying about annoying compatibility issues. Simply use a web browser or download the QRS Mobile app to your mobile device, follow the intuitive setup wizard and you’ll have your wireless AC home network up and running in minutes. Dual Band Advantage: The Wireless AC750 Dual Band Cloud Router delivers dual band performance for intelligent, versatile, interference-free bandwidth. Check your email and surf the Internet on the 2.4GHz band; game and make Skype calls and stream HD videos with less interference on the 5GHz band. Whatever you like to do online, dual band has you covered. App-Enabled & Cloud Services: D-Link’s Cloud Routers also provide the added benefit of remote network management and simple setup via my D-Link Cloud Services.
