Made for TV by Kate Rosin

I can totally suspend belief. When the author sent me this book, it was right up my alley, women’s fiction, a little quirky – and hey, 80s stuff! That’s all me, baby! It even starts out really well and I can forgive the work stuff (which was a little over-the-top). But the back story was… yeah.

I dunno. Maybe it’s not fair, but with my chick lit, I have to have some form of belief system in place. I have to believe what the characters are saying and doing and it has to ring somewhat true. I get that this was satire, which is why I’m forgiving it a little, but it just came off as a little too much for me. Especially the very last chapter. Sigh. Really? Did we HAVE to go there? Perhaps we did… *laughing*

Having said THAT, do NOT get me wrong. I really did like the story and the book and it was really well written. The authors charm and voice is able to come across the pages amazingly well. It’s obvious she has found her passion in life and her genre. I’d love to see what she does next. Maybe toned down, but I like the quirkiness of the characters, I’ll remember them for a while.

That, in and of itself, is pretty amazing.

Recommended for chick lit fans. It’s good. I’m just being nit picky 🙂 But, hey, I own it.

Hey Candy, effective review… I appreciate a quirky book now and then and I think it is a nice break when the author’s voice comes through in a piece of work! I will definitely have to come back and read more reviews!
