Hour 12 of #readathon – Midway Meme Challenge

I had to take a break earlier, was starting to get a little crazy, went for a little walk, commented on some blogs, had some veggies. Hubby will have dinner in a bit, so I’ll be taking another break soon, then it’s hunkering down some more. As you may have noticed, I’m doing a lot of indie stuff – I may not be able to do that for the whole thing, but we’ll see… I’m thinking short stories (any indies out there want some short stories reviewed?)

Mid-Event Survey:
1. What are you reading right now? October Breezes by Maria Hooley
2. How many books have you read so far? 3
3. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-thon? The chocolate bar I’m treating myself with when it gets late and I need a break, I haven’t had good chocolate in a long time!
4. Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day? Bribed the kids and husband a bit
5. Have you had many interruptions? How did you deal with those? Hubby had to work so I got stuck with kid duty. They are 7 and 9 so they were easily bribed with “Mommy is REALLY busy, you can have anything in you want to eat and anything you want to drink – sodas too – if you will just leave me alone. Here, let me turn on your computers for you”. Yes, they had pizza for breakfast. I’m okay with that.
6. What surprises you most about the Read-a-thon, so far? That I’m spending so much time blogging and commenting and chatting. I’m okay with that too 🙂
7. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year? Nope, seems pretty smooth!
8. What would you do differently, as a Reader or a Cheerleader, if you were to do this again next year? This was my first year, but I think saying “15 hours” didn’t take into account that I really only read 20-50 minutes per hour because I’m actively blogging or tweeting or whatever. But it wasn’t a “real” goal, so again, I’m okay with that. I would also not have a party the night before, I’m feeling it!
9. Are you getting tired yet? No really tired, feeling a little punchy, that’s a lot of reading!
10. Do you have any tips for other Readers or Cheerleaders, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered? I love any comments or tweets or anything really, just knowing that people are paying attention makes me smile! I hope maybe someone will read the reviews for the independent authors I’m reviewing when I do them next week and will buy a book that interests them. There’s some REALLY good independent stuff out there!

Pizza for breakfast? Best mom ever! (I’m not being sarcastic. Pizza is awesome.) Keep up the great reading!

Well, this got kicked out for being spam, and I don’t know how else to reach you. Instead of giving you links to the individual stories, I’ll just send you my Amazon authors page and list the stories I’d like a review on:

    http://bit.ly/carlaauthorpage

    –Blood Alley
    –A Sleep To Startle Us
    –Bitch
    –We All Need Traditions

I know you won’t get to all of them, so I’ve put in order of preference.

Wow, can’t believe you’re doing this! I’m impressed.

Hi Carla – you can choose one or two if you’d like and email to me (see the sidebar that says “review requests”) and I’ll try to get to them late tonight when I’m needing some instant gratification 🙂 Not sure about the spam thing… my email address is candytx@gmail.com – if that doesn’t work, use candy@offassist.com
