Coraline by Neil Gaiman

A bunch of the 4th and 5th graders at my kid’s school are crazy over this book so I picked it up and read it. I must admit this is my first Gaiman book and I was impressed. It’s perfect for that age group – it’s just creepy enough, yet has the air of a fairytale. I know my 9-year-old will enjoy reading it, but I think I’ll hold off on letting my 7-year-old read it.

I may never look at button eye’d dolls in the same way again…

Description:
When Coraline steps through a door to find another house strangely similar to her own (only better), things seem marvelous.

But there’s another mother there, and another father, and they want her to stay and be their little girl. They want to change her and never let her go.

Coraline will have to fight with all her wits and courage if she is to save herself and return to her ordinary life.
