Hill Country Pasta House in Lakeway, TX

Several months ago, my family decided to try out the Hill Country Pasta House in Lakeway. We had heard good things and they were having a “Kids Nights”. So we loaded up the van and headed over expecting a quiet dinner for Mom and Dad and pizza and a movie for the kiddos. We were wrong.

Things started off really badly. The room for the kids was extremely hot and dark. Our children balked immediately and came to sit with us at the table. Service was extremely slow. I’m not sure why since we saw plenty of staff and the dinner rush had not yet hit. When our drinks did finally arrive they were watered down as if they had been sitting for a while.

We all ordered something different. 2 pizza’s and 2 pasta dishes. The pizza’s were swimming in grease but at least had a nice flavor. The pasta looked pretty….but that is about all I can really say for it.

Once you add in the price (slightly higher than going to Chili’s or Serrano’s) the whole experience is not worth repeating. We’ve thought about it, since everyone has an off night sometimes, but no, I don’t think we’ll be going back.

Old World Service … Today’s Healthy Cuisine
Since 1991, Hill Country Pasta House has been serving traditional Italian fare with a Southwestern kick in a friendly, neighborly atmosphere. Located in the Lake Travis/Lakeway area west of downtown Austin, Texas, we are famous for our foccaccia bread baked fresh each day and our wood-fired brick oven pizzas.
