(Book) Two For the Dough by Janet Evanovich

87

Some of my friends gush over this series. My book club read the first one earlier this year and now the 2nd one. They are okay (not really book club material, for the record). I will admit I liked this one better than the first, with the exception of the grandmother, who drove me nuts. They are quirky, easy to read and toss aside when you’re done. I don’t think they’ll stick with me or have anything meaningful going on, but I will probably continue with the series because they can be funny and let’s face it, we all need a light read (or twenty) now and then.

I liked this story a little bit more, although I wanted some twist in it or something to kind of make me say “ooohhh!” but instead it was very predictable. Still, a fun read. I can see I’ll be reading quite a few of these during my busy season at work when I need super light reading to stay sane.

Synopsis

Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is still learning the ropes at her cousin Vinnie’s bail bond office, so when she sets out on the trail of Kenny Mancuso—a suspiciously wealthy, working class Trenton boy who has just shot his best friend—the stakes are higher than ever. That Mancuso is distantly related to vice cop Joe Morelli—who is trying to beat Stephanie to the punch—only makes the hunt more thrilling….

Taking pointers from her bounty hunter pal, Ranger, and using her pistol-packing Granda Mazur as a decoy, Stephanie is soon closing in on her mark. But Morelli and his libido are worthy foes. And a more sinister kind of enemy has made his first move…and his next move might be Stephanie’s last.

Looking forward to reading this one even though I definitely didn't think book 1 was as great as my friend raved. But, I'm the queen of light read — heck the last heavy read I did I had to stop at chapter 3 to get back to later. LOL
