(Kid’s Book) Wabi Sabi by Mark Reibstein

Over the Summer, we took a quiet family vacation and the kids were bored and wanted me to read a book to them. I whipped out the Kindle and found this book and the kids insisted THIS was the book to read. I must say that we all enjoyed it. It was simple enough for the kids to understand and enjoy but complex enough that I enjoyed it as well. We’ve read it several times since then and enjoyed it each time. I love the Japanese themes and feel of the book. This is a definite read and one I’ll look for in hardback for our home collection.

Using spare text and haiku, Mark Reibstein weaves an extraordinary story about finding real beauty in unexpected places. Caldecott Medal-winning artist Ed Young complements the lyrical text with breathtaking collages. Together, they illustrate the unique world view that is wabi sabi.
