(Restaurant) Latitude 2802 in Rockport, TX

Looking for something a little more “artsy” while visiting the coast? Tired of the same old boiled seafood? Latitude 2802 is an amazing mix of art and dining located in the old downtown of Rockport. Make your reservation and be shown straight to your seat, or walk-in and browse the art gallery while you wait. Either way, you will not be disappointed.

The hostess was charming and directed us to our table in a room filled with fabulous art depicting sea turtles and other ocean creatures. The waitress promptly took our drink and appetizer order and then left us in peace to look through the menu. So many choices, too small of a stomach!

Speaking of the appetizer, the Shrimp Cocktail was great! The sauce was familiar yet different from other cocktail sauces. I would have bought the sauce by the gallon and brought it home with me! The bread was served warm and crusty. The garlic butter spread was excellent as well.

As for the meal? I really do not have words for how good the food was. My Cajun Mahi Mahi was just a little spicy, and melted in my mouth. The crawfish tails laid across the top added just the right amount of “bayou” feel to the dish without distracting from the fish itself. My companion had the Fish Oscar which was equally amazing. Dessert was a chocolate mousse and creme brulee (which was fired at the table and was thick, not thin – absolutely amazing).

The hostess came by a couple of times to check on us. We felt well taken care of without anyone imposing on our night out.

You have to eat here! 5 stars just is not enough when it comes to Latitude 2802. A great date place too, we had a fantastic time.
