(Movie) I Am Legend

I am a huge wuss. Scary movies, blood, guts, etc… cannot do it. I used to LOVE horror movies, but for whatever reason, I get really freaked out nowadays. This sent me looking in the other direction or looking for a reason to get up (need another soda, honey?) several times.

Having said that, I thought it was very well done for what it is. The tone of the movie stayed true from start to finish. Under all the scary monster tone, there is a lingering sadness for this man’s predicament.

Worth a watch, but I feel VERY strongly this should have been rated R. I’m pretty liberal with stuff like that, but not only was the scary factor up there, but the subject matter was NOT appropriate for any 13 year old I know. The MPAA got this one wrong.

Product Description
Robert Neville is a brilliant scientist but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable incurable and man-made. Somehow immune Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and maybe the world. For three years Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague — The Infected — lurk in the shadows… watching Neville’s every move… waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind’s last best hope Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered… and quickly running out of time.

I loved this movie but I do agree, not appropriate for children at all. It does teach some good lessons though. What good is money, status and power in Robert Neville’s world, where he is one of the few if only human left on earth?…

I loved this movie too. Will Smith did a fantastic job! He’s such a good all-round type of actor.
